Last thoughts: Fleeting Moment (the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge)

“My friend, let’s not think of tomorrow, but let’s enjoy this fleeting moment of life.”  – Omar Khayyam

As always, the Friday Edition (posted somewhat late this week) combines a quote with a favorite photo. I tailor these to the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge theme, which this week is “Fleeting Moment”.

I spent this past weekend up in the Catskills in New York state, attending a weekend meditation retreat run by an amazing organization called “Peace Village“. It was a life-altering experience; I will share more about it this coming week.

My fleeting moment of “street photography” came yesterday, on Saturday, when my friend Anne and I were taking a walk after lunch. As we meandered around the pond by our lodge, we came across “the other Anne”, a very sweet, very busy professional woman from Baltimore, who was also attending the meditation weekend. She and I had already bonded over our shared need to “get rid of the chatter in our heads” both the night before and earlier that morning, so I knew who she was when we came upon her, contemplating the peace of that little pond.

Anne looked so peaceful, and so in tune with the atmosphere and the surroundings, that I knew immediately that this was my “fleeting moment”.

ALOHA.

  2. What else to do when you have a great view in front of you, sit back, relax, reel it in and contemplate. Thanks Karina for all the positive outlook in life you have provided us in your blog.

  5. I hope it wasn’t fleeting for your friend – that it lasted as long as she needed it to be :-)

    • It was fleeting for me–a quick moment and then I let her be. :) Since we had been talking about how we both had the “constant chatter” in our brains, and how hard it was to feel peaceful, she literally yelled, “Finally!” when I showed her the picture.

And yes, I sent her a copy of the photo via email. :) Something for her to remember!
