“Summer afternoon, summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.” – Henry James
As always, the Friday edition combines a quote with a favorite photo. I tailor these to the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge theme, which this week is “Summer”.
Today’s photo is a bit of a dodge. I remember many idyllic summers in Hawaii when I was a kid, and so chose to do the challenge today with those memories in mind.
However, as an adult, I live on the coast of Maine, and the summers here are glorious.
If I had to choose only one state’s summer to experience from this point onward, I honestly don’t know which one I would choose. How lovely, in these days of easy air travel, that I don’t have to.
Today’s photo celebrates summertime in Hawaii. Tomorrow’s will celebrate summertime in Maine.
Two different places, over 5,000 miles apart, but each equally amazing in its own way.
Aloha!

You have had the pleasure of living in beautiful places. Thank you for taking such a beautiful picture and sharing it with us!

This photo sure looks inviting
Posted by reb | May 25, 2012, 10:55 pmYou really need to go. The photos really don’t do it justice. The light is so different there…so clear and bright. Everything seems to sparkle.
Posted by AlohaKarina | May 25, 2012, 11:02 pmMy favorite words. Sums up summer. Last day of school is June 15th. Can’t wait. The beautiful photo today is inspirational.
Posted by rutheh | May 26, 2012, 6:57 amFor my husband it’s June 20. My district is out Jube 12, but of course I’m not teaching this year. Back at it next year though!
